Project Overview
Surmount AI is a FinTech SaaS platform that lets anyone automate their investments using 150+ back-tested strategies — or build their own with no coding required. It connects to top US brokers (Robinhood, Schwab, Fidelity, Alpaca, Webull, Tradier) via bank-level security and uses real AI/ML models running since 2019 to power personalized portfolio management.
As the full-stack developer, I built the complete platform — the marketing site, strategy marketplace, portfolio dashboard, AI agent layer, broker OAuth integrations, performance analytics, and AWS infrastructure — featured by a16z, Techstars, Product Hunt, and Financial Services Review.
Key Challenges
Securely connecting user brokerage accounts across Robinhood, Schwab, Fidelity, Alpaca, Webull, Coinbase, and Tradier — each with different OAuth flows, rate limits, and API contracts — while maintaining bank-level security throughout.
Running 150+ automated investment strategies simultaneously with live market data, backtesting engines, trade execution scheduling, rebalancing logic, and drawdown monitoring — all without blocking the user-facing application.
Integrating real AI/ML models (not just GPT wrappers) trained since 2019 on 20,000+ datapoints — powering AI Agents that autonomously analyze portfolios, suggest actions, and build personalized investment strategies for each user.
Technical Architecture
Surmount is deployed on AWS with a multi-service architecture supporting real-time trade execution, AI model inference, broker OAuth flows, live portfolio tracking, and high-availability data pipelines.

150+ professionally curated, back-tested investment strategies — each with performance metrics (annual return, max drawdown, total return), AI-generated images, category filtering, and 1-click deployment to any connected broker.
Real AI/ML models trained since 2019 on 20,000+ datapoints. AI Agents suggest top actions, analyze portfolios, and build fully personalized strategies based on user goals — no coding or financial expertise needed.
Bank-level secure OAuth connections to Robinhood, Schwab, Fidelity, Alpaca, Webull, Coinbase, and Tradier. Users link their existing accounts and automate trades without ever leaving the platform.
Real-time portfolio overview with interactive charts (1D/1W/1M/3M/6M/YTD/1Y/All), active strategies table, benchmark comparison (vs SPY), rebalance indicators, and per-strategy performance breakdowns.
No-code strategy creation tool — users define rules using any idea, any datapoint, any asset class. Includes company search, market cap/price/volume filters, and earn-by-sharing monetization for strategy creators.
Full marketing website with animated hero, press/award sections (a16z, Techstars, Product Hunt), customer testimonials with strategy tags, broker integration showcase, 4-award CTA section, and full sign-up / sign-in flows.
